Meta Delays Mixed Reality Glasses Launch to 2027
Meta Mixed Reality Delay
Meta has postponed the debut of its next-generation mixed reality glasses, codenamed Phoenix, from 2026 to the first half of 2027, according to an internal memo from Maher Saba, vice president of Meta's Reality Labs Foundation. The delay is intended to allow more time to deliver a more polished and reliable experience, as explained in a separate memo from executives Gabriel Aul and Ryan Cairns. While Meta has not publicly revealed many details about the Phoenix project, previous reports indicate it will feature a goggle-like form factor with an external power source, similar to the Apple Vision Pro's battery pack design. Additionally, Meta is working on a limited edition wearable codenamed Malibu 2 and recently announced its acquisition of Limitless, a startup that developed an AI wearable called Pendant, suggesting the company's plans to expand its current product portfolio beyond smart glasses and VR headsets.
